Find out what will be new on the 2017 GMC Acadia, and you will start to get excited about its upcoming arrival to Florida. The GMC Acadia is known for its spacious interior and ability to offer three rows of seats. Although the 2017 model is smaller, it still offers these things along with all the features drivers have come to know and love.
GMC Acadia Size Adjustments
If you park the 2017 Acadia next to a previous model year, you will notice that it is smaller. This size reduction has led to a reduction in weight of up to 700 pounds, a truly impressive number. This weight loss is also thanks to an increased use of high-strength steel, which is press-hardened and lets GMC use smaller components while maintaining the same strength. Overall, the Acadia’s wheelbase shrunk by 6.4 inches while it is 7.2 inches shorter and 3.5 inches narrower. This means that all the interior dimensions are shorter. Even with the size reduction, the Acadia is still a spacious SUV, giving you up to 79 cubic feet for your cargo.
New GMC Acadia Engines
Because of the reduction in weight, the 2017 GMC Acadia can run on a smaller engine than the previous models. You can choose from the standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 194 horsepower or available 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6. According to General Motors, the Acadia should get 22 mpg* for city driving and 28 on the highway with the 4-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive. These truly impressive numbers show that the reduction in weight paid off. Even going with the V6 engine should still get you 17 city/25 highway mpg*.
