Spring Cleaning: Hacks for Keeping Your Home Nice and Tidy

Spring is here! It’s time to grab your duster and clean out those closets. Keep your home nice and tidy with these spring cleaning hacks.

Clean Your Window Sill

Clear your window sill of dirt and grime with this easy hack.

You’ll need: white vinegar, baking soda, paper towels, a cloth, an old toothbrush, and a butter knife

Step 1: Sprinkle baking soda over the dirt on the window sill. Then, pour white vinegar on top of the baking soda. Allow it to sit on the window sill for about 10 minutes.

Step 2: After 10 minutes, take the old toothbrush and scrub the corners of the window sill. Grab paper towels to pick up and remove the dirt.

Step 3: Wet the cloth and use it to wipe away the remaining grime. If the dirt is really tough to remove, use the butter knife to get it up. Spray more white vinegar and wipe the window sill until it’s sparkling and clean.

Clean Your Air Vents

When cleaning your home, it’s easy to forget about the air vents. Don’t worry though, this easy hack will get your vents nice and clean in no time!

You’ll need: Dish soap, a scrub brush, screwdriver, and water

Step 1: Turn off your air/heat so that it doesn’t cut on while you’re cleaning.

Step 2: Remove the air vents. Use the screwdriver if necessary.

Step 3: Place the air vents in the bathtub. Then, pour the dish soap over the vents and fill the bathtub with warm water. Allow them to soak in the bathtub for about 15 minutes.

Step 4: Use the scrub brush to remove the dirt from the vents. Be sure to scrub both sides. Then, drain the water from the bathtub and rinse off the vents.

Step 5: Shake off the excess water and lay the vents onto a dry towel. After the vents have dried, put them back in place and you’re good to go!

Clean Tarnished Silverware

Make your silverware shine like new with this quick hack.

You’ll need: baking soda, hot water, and a cotton cloth

Step 1: Spread the tarnished silverware out into a pan. Then, sprinkle baking soda on top of them.

Step 2: Next, pour the boiling water over them and allow them to soak in the water.

Step 3: After soaking the silverware for a few minutes, buff each item with the cotton cloth. Viola!

Remove Cutting Board Buildup

After whipping up so many delicious meals, your cutting board might be in need of a deep clean. Cleanse it in minutes with this simple spring cleaning tip!

You’ll need: Lemon, water

Step 1: Cut a lemon in half. Then, squeeze and rub the the lemon across your cutting board.

Step 2: After rubbing, allow the lemon juice to sit on the board for about 30 minutes. Rinse the cutting board and allow it to dry.

Freshen Your Dishwasher

Refresh your dishwasher at a low cost with this easy trick.

You’ll need: Lemonade Kool-Aid

Step 1: Pour the Lemonade Kool-Aid in the detergent cup of your dishwasher.

Step 2: Run an empty cycle. The Kool-Aid will cleanse away iron stains and lime deposits, making your dishwasher fresh and clean!
