At just a half hour from Milton, Pensacola is a popular destination for those who want to enjoy the beach and some local festivals. One of the best festivals is coming up in September: Taste of the Beach. This event takes place on Sept. 23 and 24, giving you almost a full weekend to enjoy delicious food and activities.
The 9th annual event kicks off at night on Friday the 23rd. The festivities begin with a VIP dinner hosted by six of the best Pensacola Beach chefs. This VIP dinner is $65 per ticket and includes a cash bar. It starts at 6 p.m. and gives you the chance to sample some signature cocktails from Taste of the Beach while enjoying special hors d’oeuvres. Then, there will be a formal five-course dinner along with an on-stage cooking demonstration. If you want to attend, buy your tickets soon since there is limited availability. Friday’s events are at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Hotel.
The main day of the event for the public is Saturday, Sept. 24, when admission is free. During the day, you can enjoy sample tastings, live concerts, a chef challenge, cook-offs, and cooking demonstrations. On Saturday, there will be 22 different beach restaurants showing off their signature dishes. You can enjoy each one for just $5 each, making them affordable enough to try at least a few. Bring your children along, as there will be plenty of kid-friendly activities in addition to other events. Saturday’s activities are at Casino Beach.
Live Cooking Demonstrations
A highlight of the Saturday festivities is the live cooking demonstrations that will go on simultaneously at 1 p.m. These will be done by Pensacola celebrity chefs, such as Global Grill’s Frank Taylor, Skopelos at New World’s Gus Silivos, the Fish House’s Jim Shirley, Jackson’s Steakhouse’s Irv Miller, and H2O at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front’s Dan Dunn. The event will be emceed by Brent Lane, the Cat Country radio host.
