Expose your child to some Northwest Florida history with a Summer Camp or Day Camp Excursion at Arcadia Mill. This archaeological site in Milton, FL represents the “first and largest19th-century water-powered industrial complex in Northwest Florida,” according to Arcadia Mill’s website.

Summer Camps & Day Camp Excursions Available

Running June 4, 2018, through August 10, 2018, camps at Arcadia Mill give kids a chance to go on an “I spy” style tour of the archaeological remains. Children will also learn about the native plants of the area and how they were used in the past. Finally, everyone will create a tree ring necklace as a memento of their visit to the site.

Group tours of Arcadia Mill are available and can be scheduled along with a variety of other programming that caters to visitors of all ages. Arcadia Mill also hosts regular and seasonal community events like the “Secrets of Santa Rosa: Archaeology and History in Your Backyard” lecture series, the “Arcadia After Dark” lantern tour, and the “Sawmills and Skirmishes” Civil War tour.

Outdoor Attractions at Arcadia Mill

The elevated boardwalk at Arcadia Mill is three-fourths of a mile long and takes visitors through the archaeological remains at the mill. The boardwalk also features an ADA accessible bridge over Pond Creek and an associated boardwalk that leads visitors to nature trails.

Be sure to also visit Discovery Pavilion which is located near the Arcadia Mill visitor center. This site features working replicas of 19th-century water-powered mill technology.

Arcadia Mill is also the perfect spot for a picnic and features shaded areas with six picnic tables. Be sure to let the Education Staff know if you’d like to utilize these facilities for group or school tour use.
