The Okaloosa Gas Navarre Fishing Rodeo Returns This Fall

Fishing Rodeo

Imagine getting to spend the day fishing and walking home with an award? It’s like being awarded for enjoying your favorite hobby. You can accomplish just that at the 2018 Okaloosa Gas Navarre Fishing Rodeo on Oct. 6–7. Adults can register for $48, and kids fish for free as long as an adult accompanies them. The rodeo will have six divisions, and you can win cash prizes and trophies, not to mention serious bragging rights. You can participate in more than one division, but you can only win with different fish.

Where Can You Fish?

So, just where can you cast a line? There aren’t any hard and fast rules. You can drop a line from the pier or the beach if you prefer to stay on dry land. You can also jump on a kayak or boat to do some fishing. Plus, you aren’t limited to the Gulf or the Sound. Fish in either one to see which one nets you the biggest fish.

The only rule is the fish have to be plucked from the water, not picked up at the local grocery store.

Win More than Cash and a Trophy

Cash and trophies are cool, but you also have the chance to win a Jackson Kayak Coosa FD during the fishing rodeo. This bad boy retails at $2,999, so it’s not your department store kayak. It’s the real deal. You can donate $20 for one ticket or $50 for three tickets to be entered in the drawing. You can also enter for free through the mail.

Don’t Forget the Kiddos

The Navarre Fishing Rodeo benefits various organizations, including Take a Kid Fishing. This free event will also coincide with the fishing rodeo. It will take place on Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. If you have young kids who aren’t quite ready for the rodeo, take them over to the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier for this event. An instructor will teach kids how to bait their hooks and fish, and if your kids are among the first 200 children to arrive, they’ll go home with a free fishing pole.

You just might clean up at the fishing rodeo. You could go home with a trophy, some cash in your pocket, and a lot of pride. And you can boost that pride even more with some new wheels from McKenzie Motors Buick GMC in Milton, Florida. Just imagine how good you’ll feel when you leave the rodeo in a new Buick or GMC.
